Create your own Matisse-inspired Collage, inspired by the vitality and joy of life and nature

Towards the end of his life, Henri Matisse created a series of colorful and vibrant collages which captured the whimsical energy of falling foliage. He used a technique he called “drawing with scissors," which involved painting with gouache on paper, and then cutting out leaf-shaped pieces of the painted paper. After Matisse cut out shapes, he then assembled them on board to create stunning, colorful compositions, which celebrated the vitality of life.

During this event, you'll learn about Matisse’s vibrant cut-out works and create your own by painting, cutting, and assembling paper on board.

Ticket includes lesson, all art materials (gouache, watercolor paper for painting and cutting, and 11x14 in. paper to apply collage to) and aprons/smocks/coveralls to wear while making art.
