ArtsClub Teen Program
Immerse yourself in New York City’s world of museums, galleries and artists during ArtsClub’s 3-session mini series that introduce teenagers to the vibrant art communities of the city. During each session, teens learn about modern and contemporary art in museums, galleries and art studios around the city, create their own artwork with guidance from professional artists, and learn the ins and outs of the art world.
All levels of experience are welcome, recommended for teens 14-18 yrs old.
Upcoming Teen Workshops:
Investigating the Power of Street Art: Basquiat to Banksy
January 25, 28, 30
During this series, you’ll learn about the history of Street Art, from the 1980s to the present day, and practice studio techniques that are derived from street art practices. We will visit the Banksy Museum, which features over 160 pieces of Banksy’s artwork. In the studio, we’ll develop techniques that enable you to express your own message with power and clarity.
Abstract Expressionism
February 22, March 1, March 8
During this series, you’ll learn about Abstract Expressionist painters (including Jackson Pollock, Lee Krasner, Willem and Elaine DeKooning, Helen Frankenthaler, Mark Rothko and Joan Mitchell) and will develop techniques in gestural painting and color field painting. We will visit New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, which houses one of the largest collections of Abstract Expressionist work in the world. In the studio, we’ll develop techniques that enable you to express your emotions through non-representational painting.

No experience is required to participate in ArtsClub’s teen programming. Our team will ensure each participant gets the most out of the program, whether they have been engaged with the arts for years or are just starting out.

Our teen-series are designed to be educational and social. You’ll produce artwork during each mini-series that can potentially be used for a college portfolio.
For those with a focus on college preparation, we recommend signing up for private sessions with ArtsClub’s team, during which we help each student prepare a comprehensive portfolio to accompany their college application. Each student will be matched with a portfolio mentor based on their style, goals and preferences.
-
We provide all the materials needed for each project, as well as smocks to protect your clothing.
