Alma Thomas was an American painter best known for her brightly colored, abstract compositions, incorporating what she referred to as "Alma's stripes". Thomas was the first African American woman to have a solo exhibition at the Whitney and, under the Obama administration, became the first African American woman to have her work added to the White House Collection. Learn about Thomas’ artistic journey and create your own abstract paintings inspired by her work.
Tickets includes lesson, art materials and wine.
For this event, we will also be welcoming our friends at Women of Culture, a community designed to connect, empower and inspire women through engagement with the arts.
