Dupont Studio Night | Political Collage

  • ArtsClub DC 1506 19th Street Northwest Washington, DC, 20036 United States (map)

Cut. Paste. Resist!

The art form of collage has been long-used to interrogate political systems. Through the medium’s emphasis on juxtaposing unlikely images, it’s the perfect tool to unpack and illustrate complicated ideas. Collage is also hailed as one of the most accessible modes of art making, due to its emphasis on cheap materials and ability to function on a small scale.

Taking inspiration from the art practices of Hannah Höch, Martha Rosler, Barbara Kruger, Lorna Simpson, and Mark Bradford, we will learn how the medium of collage has been used to fight for the futures artists want to see, and how you too can use collage to send messages that you believe in.

Ticket includes art history lesson and all art materials including archival magazines, 11x14 in. board to paste your collage onto, and an envelope to take the collage home in. Coveralls/ smocks will be provided to protect your clothing.
