Art History Lesson | Exploring Surrealism

Learn how to analyze and talk about Surrealist art. This session will focus on the Dada movement.

Learn the story of Surrealism, from its origins in the whimsical Dada movement to the influence of Sigmund Freud. We’ll discuss many Surrealist artists including Max Ernst, Marcel Duchamp, Salvador Dalí, Leonora Carrington, and more! 

This is part of a three-lesson series. Classes are stand alone, so book one or all three.

All lessons meet in-person at 311 East Third Street, New York.
Vaccination is required for entry.

Class Topic: Dada Cyborgs

In this session, we’ll explore the global movement that rocked the art world at its core and led to the development of Surrealissm. The Dada movement gave us Max Ernst, strange cyborgs, and a whole new way to think about, and make, art.
