  • 311 East 3rd Street New York, NY, 10009 United States (map)

“I became a painter because I wanted to raise painting to the level and poignancy of poetry or music.” – Mark Rothko

Hans Namuth, Rothko in his Studio, 1964

Step into the meditative world of Mark Rothko, where color and form evoke deep emotion and connection. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll explore Rothko’s signature techniques of layering color fields and creating luminous compositions that speak to the soul. Explore your emotions and use color as your primary language to design an artwork that conveys mood and depth. Work with translucent layers of paint, subtle gradients, and soft edges to create harmonious and emotive compositions in your own Rothko-inspired painting.

Ticket includes lesson and all art materials (including a 9x12 inch canvas). Coveralls/ smocks will be provided to protect your clothing.
