Learn about the art and influence of the Washington Color School

In the late 1950s, Washington D.C. became the epicenter of a significant artistic movement known as the Washington Color School. This group of abstract painters including Morris Louis, Kenneth Noland, Alma Thomas, and Sam Gilliam championed the use of vibrant color as a medium for expressing emotions. During this event, you’ll learn about this distinctly D.C.-based movement and create your own unique abstract painting.

Ticket includes art history lesson and all art materials including a 9x12 inch canvas to paint. Coveralls/ smocks will be provided to protect your clothing.
